Sample Weekly Schedule
A description of each event will display if you mouse over the links. Schedule is always subject to change.
Sunday
Brunch: Often times this will be a community wide event. If not, it will be held in households. Sundays are the Sabbath, therefore they are usually days to rest, go to Mass, and take it easy.
Sunday Mass: Each week the community will celebrate Sunday Mass together at a local parish. Sometimes YANA will be called to serve at a parish on Sunday nights to do a program or outreach for youth.
Night Prayer: Each night at 11 pm, Night Prayer is held in each house.
Curfew: Monday through Wednesday night there is an 11 pm curfew. This it to help sleep happen and to foster relationships amongst household members.
Monday
Daily Mass and Personal Prayer: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - Each of these days, Youth Arise attends 8 am daily mass and then following mass, takes 30 min. for personal prayer time in the Church.
Breakfast: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - 9 am - Each of these days, YANA will have breakfast at the Center. Breakfast is "on your own", meaning you make your own cereal, toast, coffee, etc.
Communal Morning Prayer: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - 10 am - Each of these days, there will be a 45 min. to an hour of common prayer for the entire community. We will alternate between Praise and Worship, Rosary, and Liturgy of the Hours.
Formation Teachings: Mondays and Thursdays - 11 am -1 pm - Each week there will be 2-4 hours of Formation Teachings or teachings on "how to live the Christian life." Topics such as, "personal prayer", "listening to God", "right speech", "forgiveness" will be considered. These teachings are designed to equip the heart to follow Christ, as well as to become a supplement to the Theological Teachings given on Wednesdays. These teachings are taught almost entirely by the staff of Youth Arise.
Lunch: Depending on the day, lunch will be held at the Center or in household.
Household Chores: Each Monday afternoon, 2 hours is set apart for Household Cores and other assigned YANA tasks. Each member of the Household will take part in cleaning the house, and helping with other house-related projects.
Tuesday
Presentations: Tuesdays - 11 am - Each week 5-7 min. presentations are given on topic from previous Wednesday.
HH Mtg Men: Men's house meets to discuss issues pertaining to their life together in household. This meeting is facilitated by the house leader and is an opportunity for announcements to be made, household responsibilities to be clarified, prayer, honoring, etc.
HH Mtg. Women: Women's house meets to discuss issues pertaining to their life together in household. This meeting is facilitated by the house leader and is an opportunity for announcements to be made, household responsibilities to be clarified, prayer, honoring, etc.
Fellowship: This will be a social activity that will sometimes include the entire community. Otherwise, it will just be a household event.
Wednesday
Theological Lectures: Each Wednesday, during a typical week, there will be a series of three lectures from the "Theology of Youth Ministry" Curriculum. Topics include Evangelization, Liturgy, Theology of the Body, Doctrine and Catechesis, Leadership and Management, etc. This curriculum was designed in conjunction with Life Teen and Franciscan University of Steubenville. Once these lectures are completed and the eight 2 pg. reflection papers are turned in for each topic, as well as a Final Project, each YANA participant will then be eligible for "Life Teen Advanced Certification in Youth Ministry".
Mass: Wednesdays - 12 noon - Mass is celebrated at the Center.
MB/Outreach/Coffee House
- Mission Branch: Twice a month, YANA community will gather for an evening of worship, teaching, and fellowship with this young adult community.
- Outreach: Once a month, YANA will do an evangelistic outreach or service project on Wednesday night.
- Sounds 'n' Grounds Coffee House: YANA sponsored coffee house once a month with live music and great coffee-esque drinks.
Friday
Free Day: Typically, each Friday is given as a Free-Day, which means that absolutely nothing is scheduled, from morning to night for YANA participants. It is a day to catch up on sleep, do laundry, hang out with friends and family, etc.
Saturday
Men's/Women's Groups: Each Saturday morning, there will be a time for prayer and discussion with the members of your household.
Lord's Day: Songs, prayer, and scripture are shared around a nice meal in order that all may reflect and prepare for the Sunday Sabbath.
